In the 1980's, we acquired technology from The Scapa Group for the manufacture of pultruded fibreglass rods for wire and cable applications for the international market. During this time, the telecommunication tape business expanded significantly within North America.

In the mid 1990's, Fabricushion began producing carpet cushions and acoustical underlayment with recycled tires – an industry game changer. These affordable green products are still a core part of our foam product mix today.

In the late 1990's, utilizing our flooring background, we patented a unique, natural odor-destroying system now called CleanNXT™ which positively addressed a strong consumer demand for products which can eliminate odors. Currently featured on Odor-Eaters® and STAINMASTER® branded carpet cushions.

In 1997, Owens Corning acquired our reinforcement business. We are still a significant player in the wire & cable industry through our two North Carolina operations, Info-Gel and Stewart Superabsorbents. At these subsidiaries, we manufacture fiber optic cable filling compounds and process and distribute superabsorbent polymers (liquid blocking powders) for protecting wire & cable, supporting agriculture production and health care procedures, to name a few.
